Veterinary Specialty Hospital of the Carolinas Adds New Medical Oncologist

Cary, N.C.  –February 19, 2008  –The Veterinary Specialty Hospital of the Carolinas (VSH) recently hired Antonella Borgatti Jeffreys as its new oncologist. Dr. Jeffreys' focus will be medical oncology. She will be responsible for seeing cancer patients, performing medical diagnostics on these patients, consulting with the surgical staff to coordinate surgery, and overseeing chemotherapy. She will also assist in the care of radiation oncology patients.

Dr. Jeffreys received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Torino in Italy and came to the NCSU School of Veterinary Medicine to pursue her interest in oncology. She served as a research scholar, assistant and then associate before becoming a clinical instructor in oncology at NCSU. Her interests then led her to Purdue University's School of Veterinary Medicine where she completed both a residency in medical oncology and a master’s degree. Prior to joining VSH, Dr. Jeffreys served as a medical oncologist at the Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Greensboro, N.C. Dr. Jeffreys also has experience as a veterinarian in private practice in Italy.
