Veterinary Specialty Hospital of the Carolinas is a unique veterinary hospital. There are less than 30 full service, private, specialty hospitals like us in the country. Because we are open 24 hours a day and provide specialized services in addition to emergency services, our fees for the care given and procedures performed may be higher than a normal veterinary visit but they are not excessive.
We are not a hospital just for the wealthy. As a matter of fact, eighty percent of our clients have a household income of $75,000 or less. We work with all of our clients to find a course of care that is suitable to their economic and medical needs.
Clients can apply for credit through Wells Fargo Financial or Care Credit while they are at VSH. One big advantage of both programs is a 90-day interest free period after first use, which allows time to pay the bill without incurring any additional costs.
Our goal is to provide the best treatment and care possible for pets that have special needs or circumstances and to enhance the services you already provide. We want you to consider us an extension of your services and not a competitor.
Sometimes veterinarians may ask us for estimates or advice on how to treat and diagnose one of their patients over the phone. At best, these estimates are very rough and the diagnosis is speculative. We feel that one of the most valuable services we can offer to you and your client is a consultation with one of our specialty doctors. We feel that this process is the best way to give you and your clients the most accurate information about the pet’s medical condition, the prognosis, options for care, and the costs associated with treatment.
Our doctors end the consultation with the client being offered various options for diagnostics and care. The pet owner has the opportunity to weigh the options and select what best meets their needs. Agreeing to an initial examination does not mean that a client is obligated to pursue the options given or continue with care at the VSH. Our goal is to assess a patient’s condition and suggest next steps for care and treatment.
If your client chooses to continue care at VSH, we make sure they are given an estimate during their initial visit. A deposit equal to the low end of the estimate is required for pets needing hospitalization. Our policy is to call the owners of all hospitalized patients once a day to inform them of the current charges. Estimates are updated when the charges start to exceed the initial estimate, and complete payment is due when the pet is discharged.
We encourage you and your client to ask questions so that everyone feels comfortable. |
