New Technology for Minimally Invasive Surgery Available only at VSH

We will soon begin utilizing a first-of-its-kind 4K camera system in minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Synergy UHD4™ by Arthrex is the first endoscopic 4K camera system available on the market and utilizes super high definition technology, like we see in today’s television sets, to provide superior video and surgical images that are four times the resolution of standard HD. This technology will be implemented in arthroscopic, laparoscopic and thorascopic-assisted surgeries such as arthroscopic joint surgery, laparoscopic organ biopsies or removal (such as gallbladder removal), cancer surgery and many other traditionally open procedures. Along with improved visualization, the benefits of a minimally invasive approach include decreased pain, faster recovery time and reduced risk of complications.

“We are very excited to offer this cutting edge technology for the treatment of our pet patients,” said Chief of Surgery Brian Trumpatori. “VSH is one of just a few veterinary practices in the country with this equipment, and the only one on the East Coast,” he added. “Our clients can rest assured that their pet is receiving the highest quality surgical care possible, employing technology that is more advanced than at most human surgery practices.”

Because the system is software-based, it allows the hospital to share images and video from the surgery directly with the pet’s owner via email. Post-operative reports can also be attached. Our clients will have more information available to them about their pet’s condition and treatment than ever before,” Dr. Trumpatori explained. “This new system ensures that they are active participants in their pet’s medical care.”

The Synergy system is also being paired with a new arthroscopy pump and top-of-the-line laparoscopy equipment.  This exciting new technology will be available exclusively at our Cary office; however, VSH offers minimally invasive surgical options at both the Cary and Durham locations.
