I have been working in the veterinary field for the last 12 years. I have been at VSH since June of 2004 and I feel honored to be a part of this establishment. I have learned tremendous amounts here and I continue to learn every day, which is a wonderful and sometimes rare thing in your job!
I have worked in our Internal Medicine department since I first started here and I have also been working in the Critical Care department for the last 4 years. This can make for a very busy day! You never know how busy it will be with the emergencies that come in, it can range from one in a day to a dozen! Our Internal Medicine department carries a constant flow of things going on including animals that are dropped off for lab work or an ultrasound, appointments in the mornings, and then procedures in the afternoons. Those procedures can include a CT scan, endoscopy to retrieve a foreign body that an animal ate or to take GI biopsies, bone marrow aspirates, liver biopsies etc. Each day we have a wide variety of symptoms or issues that we are here to resolve, and sometimes they can be very complicated ones.
I am lucky enough to get both personal and professional satisfaction from my job every day. Obviously my favorite part of my job is watching an animal that came in critically ill able to leave with a wagging tail and a happy and satisfied owner. I always appreciate the trust that owners put in our hands with their pet, who is often considered their child. I am lucky to work with doctors and technicians who are amazing and so talented at what they do. Everyone here works as a team with the patient’s best interest at heart and make such a difference in both the pet’s and the owner’s lives. VSH provides top notch care and I am very honored and happy to be a part of that.
